Concept of Love

Love is a touchy subject for a lot of people. It is a strong word and a very powerful emotion. I was not going to write about Love today because it is very cliche. “oooohhh, she wrote about Love on Valentine’s day.” But I do suppose there are still many things, many things, that can be learned about Love. There are also some thoughts that I have about love. First and foremost; the bible teaches us that God is love. We were created out of love. I believe we were created to Love. So why is it so hard to even grasp the concept. It is in our DNA to Love. Yet most people can’t even be nice, stranger or not. It is hard to love for some people. Even though that’s not how it should be. Some people throw the word around carelessly. “I love coffee!” You don’t “love” coffee. You just seriously enjoy drinking it. You shouldn’t throw the word around so frivolously.

Recently I found out, while I was a teenager, I thought I “loved” a lot. A lot of things and a lot of people. The problem I found with that is most of that “love” left me feeling broken inside. I had no idea what it REALLY meant back then. It took me a long time to figure out what love truly is. It took me until I met the actual love of my life before I really learned what love was truly capable of. I truly love him, I have for a long time now. That Love was/is amazing. Completely blew my “love” of coffee out the window.

Then we had babies. Once you have babies, “Love” and every concept you have of it gets completely blown out of the water. I love my babies more than I ever even thought was physically possible. I had NO IDEA, that kind of love even existed. I believe, and like to think, God’s love for us; is like that, times a billion. He gave us, His ONLY Son, to save our lives. Which means he has to love us so much for that to have even been a possibility.

Today is a day of Love, but make sure if you are celebrating today, that you aren’t doing it for the wrong reasons. Love is something unexplainable. Something to be cherished, cared for, and respected. Not thrown around just because you “think”. When you know, you know, it is something to be celebrated. God loves you, no matter what. Where ever you are, what ever you are going through; Always remember that.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV
